SPREZZATURA SPORTS & WELLNESS

UNLEASH YOUR FENCING POTENTIAL

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

Becoming an elite fencer requires more than showing up to practice a few days a week. Moving from "good" to "great" takes commitment - not just when you are geared up with a blade in your hand, but in the every day routines outside of fencing time. It means committing to developing the physical and mental conditioning that goes with elite performance.

Strength, speed, endurance, and mental resilience don't happen on their own - you need dedicated conditioning work to succeed at the top levels. We help busy fencers and coaches meet and exceed training goals through dedicated conditioning classes and tailored programs for both individuals and groups.

Sprezzatura's science-based 5-Pillar Framework is designed to help all levels of recreational through internationally competitive fencers improve their performance and training methodology. Harness the tools of world-class fencing & combat programs with education and conditioning training that supports excellence AND longevity.

The Complete Fencer

OUR METHODOLOGY

Our 5 Pillars of Conditioning & Wellness that we want every fencer to master.

  1. Programming - The what, when, and why of strength and conditioning work, which should match your current abilities, goals, and competition cycle.

  2. Movement - Your aerobic and anaerobic fitness. Can you go all out at the right time, or do you wear out halfway through your competition?

  3. Mobility and Stability - Moving through a safe range of motion without restriction and avoiding movement patterns that put joints at risk

  4. Mental Performance - Greater focus and awareness, emotional regulation, and tools for an elite mindset.

  5. Recovery - How you bounce back and prevent injury. Taking care of your body with high quality sleep, nutrition, and soft tissue regeneration methods.

Where are you in your fencing journey?

Fitness Objects

You want to get fit

Fencing has helped you move more and make new friends. Now that you have gotten better you realize your fitness is probably holding you back. Maybe you've dabbled in fitness before but you have no idea what to focus on for fencing. You have specific goals and are ready to commit to working out but aren't sure where to begin.

Fencing Mask on the ground

Your fencing has plateaued

You enjoy competing regularly and perhaps even have some medals to show for it. Despite training regularly, however, you haven't seen much improvement in your fencing or fitness in the last six months (or more). You need a concrete conditioning plan and a path to accelerate out of your current slump.

You're all in to win

You are already in the top tier or gunning to be there. You love competing and your results mean a lot to you. You've already crushed some awesome fencing goals and probably work out regularly.  You're ready to work with a coach to polish up your conditioning, create a competition game plan and maintain consistent performance when it counts.

Why Train with Sprezzatura?

SUPPORTED BY SCIENCE

No viral Instagram fitness trends here, and this isn't a high school weight room. Our programs use the highest quality scientific evidence available - which we share with you along the way.

SAFE AND HEALTHY SPACE

There is no "average fencer". We acknowledge and support athletes of every shape and size, including our fencers who are neurodivergent, queer or gender fluid, those dealing with complex chronic medical conditions or otherwise feel part of an underrepresented group in fencing and combat sports.

EMERGE EDUCATED

We don't want you relying on us forever (although that'd be a better business model). Instead, we help fencers learn what they need to take care of their bodies for the long term.

FITS YOUR SCHEDULE

Private training is tailored not only to fit your current level of conditioning, but also when and how you train.  Fence 2 days a week with your club? Great.  Do other sports too? No problem - it's your program, so it should fit around what else you love to do (besides fencing).

YOUR GOALS, YOUR PROGRAM

We recognize we all fence for different reasons:  to lose weight and get healthier, to have fun, to make friends, or to compete. Wherever you are on your journey, we meet you there and accelerate your health and fencing to the next level.

FULL SPECTRUM TRAINING

We are an entirely different concept from what you'll find at your local gym. Sprezzatura is full body human health and performance training - a head to toe look at how you train, compete, and recover. In addition to strength and fitness we help fencers with competition anxiety, stress and resiliency, training schedule design and more.
